U want naughty or nice? As One Single Rose™ or Miss Detroit™, poet Rosemarie Wilson sells us both.

DETROIT MI

I first noticed the virtuosity of One Single Rose aka "Miss Detroit" at a musical poetry reading held in an underground social club and artists hang out. Members of this private social club in the "North End" neighborhood of Detroit can experience the rich culture of Detroit House/Techno music in addition to the occasional comedian and live performance art. This is one of my favorite spots to visit in Detroit and will remain a secret but at this place you can meet some of Detroit's premiere cultural influencers like One Single Rose.

I picked Rosemarie for a Culture Hustlers interview because she’s one of the most hard working artists in Detroit. And multi talented, dynamic. She’s a poet, filmmaker, playwright, businesswoman. Pure Detroit hustle, but humble at the same time. Her work speaks for itself.

DISCUSSION

Rosemarie has two audience segments for her two styles of poetry, “naughty” under the guise of Pearl and “nice” under the guise of One Single Rose (22:00). She explains that “nice” poetry is for churches, schools, public arenas, and other G rated venues. Her “naughty” poetry is reserved for private venues, bachelorette parties, and even couple’s bedrooms.

Q: Are there segments to your audience? how do you approach them differently?

Rosemarie is quick to state the you’re “either gonna love me… or leave me” (26:00). In most situations your audience does not consist solely of fans but a mix of “lovers and leavers”; including future fans, fair-weather fans, perhaps some current and potential sponsors, collaborators, allies, agents, as well as a few critics, detractors, and even some copy-cats thrown in too (17:00).

Q: Who’s your ideal audience? Who will love you?
